1. I think Third Eye Open and the follow-up album Metamorphic: The String Quartet Tribute to Tool, Vol.2 are both gorgeous pieces of work. The violins carry Maynard's melody in pure lilting tones. In places two violins play simultaneously, adding extra depth to Maynard's original delivery.

2. Review of: "Third Eye Open: The String Tribute to Tool." This gem is literally a string cover compilation of Tool's (arguably) greatest songs. There are obviously no lyrics. However, if you love the violin, viola, cello, and contrabass like I do you might find this CD intriguing, maybe relaxing, and perhaps worthwhile/5(55).

4. Disc one was originally released in as String Tribute to Tool, while Anotomica's second disc first appeared in as Metamorphic: The String Quartet Tribute to Tool. Owners of the earlier collections won't find any additional content here. However, the set is still one of the better, even creepier entries in Vitamin's series. Vitamin.

A good recomendation would be Dmitri Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 8, which has a similar dark mood with the plus of having a nice harmonic development. String Quartet aficionados, go ahead and delight yourselves with Aenima or Lateralus, and enjoy what's missing in these tributes/5(11).

First a heads up for those who are looking at this any other string quartet tool cover albums, Anotomica is a 2 disc set which is really just a combination of "Third Eye Open" (String Tribute to Tool) and "Metamorphic" (Metamorphic: The String Quartet Tribute to Tool, Vol. 2), two earlier releases by Vitamin Records.I have not seen this identified anywhere, and discovered this by comparing /5(5).
